I was going to make a new thread, but will post this in here instead as it's driving related..

I just drove up to Thousand Oaks from Westcreek (went to meet Kinky Friedman and buy a box of his new cigars which benefit his animal shelter) and I was wondering why they bother with the 70 mph speed limit signs up there. I haven't been up there in ages and now I remember why and I also know why the traffic sucks so much up there. Not a single one of them can go 70 MPH and most go more like 55 or 60 with absolutely nobody in front of them. The few occasions where I did make it around the slow pokes I felt like I was flying at 70-75.. completely crazy..

I'll also make a plug for my TomTom One I just bought. It got me there perfect and I made it not go up 281 because of the construction. It does have an issue with 1604 South between Culebra and Wiseman though. For some reason the road ends for a few hundred feet (on TomTom) and then magically comes back...

Why do SA drivers stop at green lights? I think a better question is why do SA drivers never use their signal except when they've already cut in front of you or when they're sitting in a left turn only lane?

That said, I did get behind somebody who slowed down about 10 mph as they were coming up to a green light on N New Braunfels. I went around the person, and wouldn't you know it, she had a cell phone stuck in her ear >: (

yes, most of the people driving 15-20 MPH below the speed limit today and totally obvlivious to what they were doing happened to be talking on the phone... I was totally shocked

and I think I've already addressed turn signals here. Most people here use them to try to get in an occupied lane and feel it gives them the right to hit the other car, leave them on without noticing, or turn it on at the very last second when it's too late to do any good.

I personally rarely use mine unless someone is behind me or coming at me and needs to know what I'm doing. Leaving them on in a left turn lane is pretty retarded and signaling with nobody around also doesn't make much sense. When I go around people driving slow in the left lane I tend to cut close to them to let them know that I had to go around them on the right because they were blocking the passing lane. They saw me, so no sense in showing the signal
