Did Texas change the window tint laws, or what? Glad to see they finally saw some sense if they did.
Last I heard it was still the same, however it depends on the inspector, some are strict, some are looking for a bribe, and some just dont care. When I was working at a quick lube place as an inspector, the thing I was a hard ass on was, parking break. Alot of the Tahoes/Suburbans had an ebreak that would not hold, and I would fail every one of them.

Kind of a contradiction, cause some of the police cruisers (crowns, tahoes, camaros, etc) have darker tint than some limos....

They are "exempt" from the inspection

Yep. Law enforcement vehicles and vehicles that carry passengers for a fee (read: taxis, limos, etc.) are exempt from tint laws.

This has got to be one of the most pointless threads I've ever had the displeasure of reading...why does it matter and more than that, why was his answer "silly?" Who is he to question what the state sends them every month? He doesn't care and doesn't need to as long as they have the stickers to perform inspections and as long.

Honestly, though, who cares as long as your inspection was done?

Oh darn. I was SO hoping for your approval when I created it.

The new stickers are color coded by inspection type.

I think the purple ones are for new cars. When I bought my car in '06, it had a purple background. The sticker was good for two years.
