My wife and I will be going on vacation to San Antonio and we would like a decent hotel within walking distance of everything? Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

When we visited last summer the best deals we could find were on Orbit and Priceline.

What do you consider "moderate"? Moderate in NYC and moderate in Anywhere USA could be considered two different things.

We just stayed at Hotel Indigo last weekend and it was lovely. It is a really old building with lots of character and right across from the Alamo. A bit noisy as we were on the second floor right on Houston Street but you could easily request a higher floor on the backside.

Look around for special offers. We got a top floor suite at the Drury Plaza for a ridiculously good price. It's very close to everything, and has a great breakfast, and drinks in the evenings.

I don't know if you would consider it "moderate'...problably not but Hotel Valencia is a favorite for my husband and I. As locals it was always our "staycation" place.
