This is sooo good. I went to the one at La Cantera on Saturday and could hardly walk there were so many people there. And..also another excuse to go to the Quarry. It will be hugggeeee if they're using the whole space.

As much as I like Nordstrom Rack, I don't think the Quarry is a good fit for the store. I mean, an outlet? seriously? The Quarry can do much better.
The Quarry should focus on fully becoming a "lifestyle center" given all the restaurants and the movie theaters, particularly given the upscale location. Hey...perhaps a Nordstrom Rack can revive the "Wonderland of the Americas"

I think the problem with your argument is that you put a negative conitation on the word "outlet" as if it'll someone devalue the quarry. Nordstrom Rack will not devalue the quarry, it'll increase its value actually. Esp since its adding to the vacancy that Borders created. It's a good fit got the Quarry market.

I don't think "outlet" has a negative connotation per se, but you'll have to agree that an "outlet store" carries off-line products at a cheaper price and cater to more price-concious customers (even is more afluent like the case of Norsdtrom Rack). It's not the same as the original store, not carry the same aura of exclusivity as a real Nordstrom. Heck, even I buy at NR, as well as many of my Mexican co-nationals. In many cases, outlet stores carry cheaper product designed especially for those stores.
Outlet stores doesn't fit any retail center. That's the reason for "Outlet Malls" like the ones in San Marcos, or even a place like the Rim, which has a "eclectic" (i.e. desorganized) mix of full price and discount concepts. Quarry Market doesn't fit that description.
In the short term, yes, anything is better than an empty space. In the long term, not so sure. I think they would be better off finding a concept more in line with the rest of the stores.

You do know that Old Navy is already at the Quarry? For some reason I do not see Nordstrom Rack dragging down the Quarry.
