I am looking for a hotel near Lackland AFB that will easily accomodate a person in a wheelchair. We would prefer one with interior corridors, and with an elevator. Safety is our greatest priority.

Most of the lodging I see in that area online look uncomfortable for our needs. I don't know the area at all, so would rather not have much of a drive to Lackland in the early morning. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately there isn't much around there. Of the few hotels that are right outside the gate I think they are mostly 2 story with outside access to the rooms. I'm sorry I don't have any recommendations as we have only been here a short while.

Here's one: San Antonio Hotel| BEST WESTERN PLUS Atrea Hotel & Suites| Lackland Air Force Base Hotel

It's one mile from Lackland, has interior corridors and was built recently.

There are several new hotels along 151 near SeaWorld that are an easy ten minute drive to base. It is a much safer area than along Military Drive.

But be sure to to book early as if you're coming down for basic training graduation, these places fill up quick!

Cheers! M2

Like the Major said, try to go for the 151/Sea World area, It's not that far from the base. The area around Lackland is not the best part of town.
