I have to show up for jury duty at 8am Tues. First question is, how early do I need to get there in order to snag a spot at the county parking garage shown on the map as being on the corner of Flores and Nueva? The second question is, I live near Churchill HS (Blanco & West Rds), approximately how long should it take me to get downtown with and without the freeway? I generally prefer surface roads and if someone has a good recommendation of a route from my area to the parking garage, that would be great too. :-)

TIA!

Not sure your commute time from where you are. But I had JD a few years ago and commuted from the far west side. I left at 6:45 and got there about 7:20 or so. Yeah, I was WAY early, but had no problems getting a parking spot in the garage.

There's always the bus too. Route #2 stops in front of Churchill HS and will drop you off downtown.
No worries on traffic or parking. Kudos on preparing ahead of time. The parking garage can get kinda crowded as 8 am nears and traffic can back up to get into the garage.

Not only that, but when you get the summons, they include a free bus pass to get to and from jury duty. It's only inconvenient if you get picked for a different court.

Hubby had jury duty last week. He said get there at 7:30 for the parking situation and to give enough time to go through security.

As far as your route I would take Blanco to San Pedro downtown and then take a right on Elmira (access road when you hit 10/35) and a left on Frio. Take a left on Dolorosa. It says that takes about 24 minutes. I would give it an extra 30 to find parking.

Thank you all for the information. I might have taken the bus, but my book club is meeting near downtown that evening, so I figure I will just stick around in the area till it is time for that. :-)

you really dont have to get there at 800, there will be people showing up at 840 and later. The parking was not an issue when i showed up at 8am. if you show up early, be prepared to wait until all the latecomers show up before you begin.
