Raising standards ? That is a new concept these days. Everyone is dropping standard to make it "fair". I say keep the strong standards and don't lower them for anyone. If a person can not meet the standards, no hard feelings.

I agree, expect they are dropping standards to make more money. Administrators put a lot of pressure on admissions personnel to let them all in, and faculty to keep them here, regardless of their abilities or preparedness.

This is usually the reason for dropping standards. College enrollment, overall, has decreased. In subjects like law, people are starting to realize that there aren't many jobs out there. If law schools start dropping standards, it'll be to increase enrollment, not to be "fair."

Maybe dropping the rates would help with enrollment.

That would, but they don't want to. I have heard people talking about shortening the length of law school to 2 years and condensing medical school by making it year-round and not requiring students to repeat courses they already took at the undergraduate level.

Clearly if they're just taking up space for a year or two, and flunking/dropping out, they are dead weight for the school. This is a positive.
