Hello,

I will be coming to San Antonio for work in January for 3 weeks.
I have noticed that the theme parks are closed over that time.
What is the best things to do on the weekends at that time of year.

I would really appreciate your ideas.

thanks

The zoo is open year round. All the museums are open: Witte, SA Museum of Art, all the missions. There is easy public transportation to all of it if you do not have a car.
Also, the river gets drained and cleaned in January, the Mud Parade and Mud festival are always good.
Forget the honky tonk crap across the street from the Alamo.

On pretty, warmer days I would go hiking in one of the parks near-by, like the Friedricks Wilderness Park. Also check out the Trade Days in surrounding areas like Boerne, Gruene, etc. Oh, and visit some of the hill country wineries. Texas has some pretty good wine out there, you just have to go find them!

What is your interest? Day trip to Fredericksburg with hiking at Enchanted Rock, weekend in Austin for great everything, La Cantera/North Star Mall/The Quarry for shopping, for grocery shopping the Central Market HEB on Broadway or Whole Foods at the Quarry, hill country tour of wineries, if you are young and looking for nightlife maybe Stonewerks at Blanco/1604, if you are solo eat at the bar at PFChang's at the Quarry or any sushi bar. McNay Art Museum and San Antonio Museum of Art, Mexican restaurant I recommend for tourist is La Fogata, of course the downtown river walk and the Alamo, weekend trip to Ft Worth (lots to do and known for best museums in US and safest downtown in US). Good luck and have fun!
