Within Texas, and hopefully within a few hours or less driving time, where is the best place for a day's white water rafting trip?

Looking for place for a group of 10 of my friends, all guys in their 30's and in average to good physical shape, all with zero white water rafting experience, but plenty of water sport familiarity.

Thanks for any input, advice, and locations suggestions!

I appreciate the effort.

Guess what I mean is, has anyone actually been white water rafting around the San Antonio area or central Texas? Or do people just have to go to Big Bend or Colorado?

I don't know of any central Texas river that has enough drop to make it white water. Usually they are just gentle floats with a few little drops here and there. We once kayaked the Colorado river from Bastrop and with the upriver release to the rice farmers down stream, the flow was pretty fast, but even then I wouldn't have called it white water.

Thanks campingsis, kind of what I'm finding. Other than the Rio Grande/Big Bend area, what's the next closest/best rafting areas?

My guess would be Colorado or maybe Arkansas?
