I have a bunch of books listed on Amazon and am trying to get rid of some of them. I have read elsewhere that some locations offer more money than others. Have any of you sold to HPB, and if so, which location or locations did you go to and how much did they give you per book? I will have mostly audio books.

They've never offered me much for any of my books. The one at 410 and San Pedro has been the worst for me...go in with four boxes of books and they offer me $8.

Seems like they either don't want certain books (paying nothing for them) or offer next-to-nothing for them. I'd rather just donate the books to libraries or Goodwill. They used to pay okay, but not for many years.

I went in with a box of books 20 years ago and got pretty much the same deal. Seems nothing has changed.

That said, if someone has books just collecting dust then anything is better than just throwing them away.

Unless you bring in many boxes of items (or drive an electric vehicle), their offer for used items won't be enough to pay for the gas to get to the store and back home.

$8 - that's true. My daughter and I noticed that whatever we brought in - it was eight bucks.

I donate mostly nowadays. We once tried to ditch comic books and they said that the more you bring, the less you get as more was a pain to go through.

Now when I want to get rid of books, I post them free on Craigslist so I don't even have to haul them somewhere. I buy most of my books at the Book Cellar for 50 cents or a dollar, so I don't feel like I need to make money off of them and I'd rather share the joy of reading with other people

If they don't offer me a reasonable amount, I will donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army. Looking on It's Deductible, Audio Books in good condition are worth $7.00 each. I will try HPB first though and report back. I was going to go to the one at 410 and San Pedro, now I will try another location!

I recently got 34 bucks at the broadway location for like 10 books. I think they accidentally gave me 30 extra dollars but I wasn't going to question it.
