On the google maps street view they don't even have the right house pictured for our address.

I guess that not having house numbers on our house has its advantage at times!

Are you gated with a guard, or just a remote entry gate? That might be the difference.

That's pretty cool. They didn't get my house from the front because it's a gated community (no guard). But I can see it if I "drive" down the neighboring street and look left.

Amazing...cool but a little creepy. My old neighbor a couple doors down is photographed standing in his front yard with no shirt on...

We have since moved. My new neighborhood is not yet been photographed as it is outside the loop. Any idea how long until Google takes street veiw shots outside 1604? It would be cool if they didn't take them until my new house was finished.

We live outside of 1604 off of Braun (Wildhorse) and a month or so back we saw the Google car going through the neighborhood. Much like your shirtless neighbor, we were captured for prosperity; but with our shirts on! However, Google has yet to load up the images, as Braun is done (and poorly so, I may add. They did it at sunrise, so going east is like staring into the sun!) but nowhere else.

There really hasn’t been many neighborhoods in the NW done, just some of the main roads...

Cheers! M2

Today's paper has an article on this in the SA Life section. It focuses on the privacy issue. It turns out there is a way to get an image removed. On the image in question, click Street View Help on the upper right, select the Report Inappropriate Image link, specify a reason and submit it. The paper mentions a weeks long verification process so it seems to imply removal is not guaranteed.

The article gives the distinct impression that there has to be a compelling reason not to include the photo. "I don't want a picture of my house on your site" is apparently not a compelling reason.

Yep. They got my girlfriend's street in north San Antonio. It's hard to tell when it was taken, because her 27-year-old still-lives-at-home brother never leaves the house. His car is a static object out front for months on end.

Actually the google arial shots are a lot more invasive. They show your back yard which is not readily seen from the street. The front yard shots are nothing that anyone driving down the street can't see. I don't think it's that big a deal.
