i maybe way behind here, but have you all seen this street view thing on Google maps? holy crap. its cool, scary and awesome all at the same time. Google has drivers with special camera equipment drive around town and then its uploaded to the maps. wow.

type in your address and see if they have the street option for it. here is the one for the Alamo. when you look at the street map, street with a blue outline has been photographed. what a cool way for people who have never been here to get a feel for the city.. incredible.

For you who are like me and love Europe, they are getting things set up there too. right now, its only the tour de France thing. so you can go looking around France! i spend 3 hours doing this tonight.. wow wow wow.

Check it out

Here is the Alamo.

300 Alamo Plaza san antonio tx - Google Maps

Click on the photo and hold the button down. now move the mouse. the little yellow line you see, has arrows click on an arrow to "drive" in that direction.

Many gated neighborhoods appear to have been skipped. Those streets are private property, which may explain why they were skipped.

It is a little unsettling. I found my mom's house.....date was about 2 1/2 years ago. Found the Christmas tree up in Alamo Heights @ Broadway and Austin Hwy so that dated it. In front of my mother's house was parked my old car, and the car of a family member that has since passed away. It was sad to see that...thinking we were all in the house and didn't know it was our last Christmas together.

It is interesting to find houses I lived in growing up overseas and can't quite remember what they looked like.....and how the little towns are so grown up now.

Earl Ables was still up at it's old location here in SA......it was winter and SA looked DEAD. I suppose the less leaves on the trees, the better you can see things. I think Google maps has a more summery version of South Texas....ok, maybe Spring....things are green!

At least some of the Street View photos are much newer than that. My car is parked outside of my office and I've only lived here for 18 months.
