I noticed my 2016 property appraisal has been posted as of this morning. Mine's up almost 8% over last year, which was up 13% (after protest) over the previous year.

Mine went up this year. A LOT. Not sure what they are smoking over there at the BCAD office.

Edit: I just noticed that my land market value went up for the first time ever since I bought the house in 2007. Did anyone else experience land market value jumps after a long period of the value staying the same?

My land value increased in 2015, after having stayed the same for several years. This year, the land value stays the same as 2015, but the improvements increased. In 2015, it was both land and improvements that increased.

Are you talking about the land market value? If so, was it your first land market value increase in awhile?

My overall value (land and dwelling) went up $40K which I think is ridiculous for a one year increase.

I guess it only goes up every so often then.

While dollar amounts of increases are interesting, please post your percent increase over last year. That may be a bit more helpful to get a measure. Personally I saw a 6.6% increase, all on homesite improvement, land value stayed the same.

I already talked to my realtor and she is going to send me comps for my development but was she quick to add that they probably won't be much help. She said she has clients lined up and very little inventory in her area so market values are up.

For us, 2016 was only a 4.79% increase over 2015, however 2015 was a 10% increase over 2014. Last year was improvements, this year land.
