I am visiting in June and would like to have a birthday cake made for my daughter. She has a paper print out of the Pittsburgh Penguins that she would like on her cake, so this has to be a custom cake making bakery. We will be staying in the 78259 zip code area. I found a place called Lucy's Cake Shop online and am considering ordering through them, but it is 25 miles away. I will drive there if I have to, but, it would be nice to not have to. Has anyone had their cakes? Does anyone know of a bakery closer to where I will be that makes great looking and tasting cakes? Thank-you in advance.

Whip Stitch. It's located in the downtown area so you will still have a little bit of a drive, but it's closer to you then Lucy's.

I used Cake Art for my wedding cake, and could not have been happier. I am sure they could do something for you

I would vote for Cake Art over Nadler's, and it is 78259, very near Main Event.

Cake Art is right near me but their online reviews are terrible. You have actually bought a cake there? I just blew them off recently and went to Nothing but Bundt instead ( omg delicious) but I would like to know if you really got a nice cake from Cake Art, for future reference.

Yes, I have bought one cake there. It was not custom ordered - from their refrigerator, and it was very good. Chocolate cake with butter cream icing and chocolate mousse center. Their cakes are expensive, and it was for a mostly adult party. Glad I didn't read the reviews b4 I bought the cake.

For the OP: Have you considered buying a Pittsburgh Penguin party kit from Party City online? You would then have Penguin themed plates, cups, napkins, etc., and you could buy a birthday cake from HEB or Wal-mart. If you are a Costco member, there is one directly behind the Chuck E. Cheese that you mentioned in the other post.
