Hi! I'm not sure if this has been answered but I'm looking for a local source to find replacement glazing bead for vinyl windows. It's the little snap in strips that go around the exterior perimeter of windows. I called a couple glass shops and checked the big box stores without luck. I know there are many different profiles out there. My windows were made in Texas by the now defunct Champion window company and many were used by KB homes in the late 90's. Really crummy windows. Any leads will be most appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure about local, but SWISCO is great and has always had the window hardware I needed...and they do have the glazing bead you seek: Snap in Glazing : SWISCO.com

I know they closed the plant in Houston so this one may not be open. Champion Windows is/was a subsidiary of Atrium Windows. You might find information about the company and any glazing bead there. That plastic strip is known as Glazing Bead and Retainer Strip. You might also try Johnny and Sonny's Glass. They carry a lot of the old KB stuff. But you're right about the windows being crap. I've seen bad sash balances, glass not even sealed into the sash, and they would install the Low E glass in backwards which made it useless.

TrapperL, I want to give you a BIG thank you for pointing me to Johnny's and Sonny's Glass shop! They had just what I needed. I had ordered glazing bead from Swisco which didn't fit and now will pay another $28 to send it back. Live and learn. What I did find out was hard hard it is to get the old bead off if it was glued on as mine was. Re. cutting the 45's, do people just eyeball it and use a knife or clippers? Seems to me that the cuts won't be really accurate. I tend to be fussy. Anyway, I hope this info will help a lot of folks trying to match the crummy glazing bead that KB Homes used.
