Yep! I'm moving to San Antonio for a year in July. I'm going to live with a host family and go to school there (11th grade)..
Sorry my english is quite bad, hope to improve it after a year in America.

I know nothing about San Antonio.. well, allmost nothing. For you people who live there or have been there, how is SA?

We had an exchange student when I was growing up from Ukraine. He spent his 11th grade year here as well. I think it'll be quite different than what you are use to, but it will be enjoyable. I think as you read the forums that we all love San Antonio for the most part. I do hope you enjoy your stay!

Pack light! San Antonio has a very warm climate. You won't need most of the warm clothes that you would wear in a Norwegian winter. A light jacket and hooded sweatshirt will be all that you will need to keep warm outside for most of the winter days in San Antonio. I have lived in San Antonio for 5 years and have sweaters in my closet that I've never worn here.

Oh really? Did he/she get a lot of friends? I've heard that americans are wonderful people who's easy to get in touch with.
I think so too, that it's going to be very different from what i'm used to, and that's great!

Haha, yeah, i figured that bowie Norway is FREEZING in the winter, like now. It's -5 celcius right now.

Is SA very.. cowboyish? Is it like a desert? hehe, i've heard that it is, so just checking! :P

It's not as cowboyish as you think. I mean it's Texas so of course you're going to see the western/cowboy theme.

Our exchange student had a lot of friends. We've lost touch, but I'm actually trying to find him online. I thought about him the other day and I know he'll remember me. He said I always reminded him of his younger sister.

You'll be in school and tons of people will help you out.

San Antonio is known as being more friendly than your typical American city, so I'm sure you will have no problems making friends.

Not really desert, most years we have 28 or so inches of rain which really isn't enough to be tropical either, it really is somewhere in between. You only need to go a couple of hundred miles west to get more desert like, but still nothing like the the Mohave in Nevada, California, and Arizona.

While you can definitely find a Cowboy influence in San Antonio, it really isn't that strong since San Antonio has become a Metro area of nearly 2 million people from pretty much all over. If you go to some of the small towns near San Antonio you will find a stronger Cowboy feel.

As far a weather we are already seeing highs of 30c or so.... Summertime you can expect it to get to 36c or so....

Curious, when you say San Antonio, do you mean SA city, or one of the towns on the outskirts? If you are moving to a town on the outskirts, you'll see a lot more country folk but if it's in SA city, then you'll see a western theme but that's about it.
