IIRC, didn't Callaway's buy out a local nursery when they moved to town a few years back? I think this happened around 2002, when my family first moved here.

Could be. I was new in town back then, but I remember someone telling me that they were disappointed that the local nursery had been bought out by this company from Dallas.
I'm guessing the competition must be getting fierce with so many big box stores in town selling trees and plants.

That figures, just when I started bragging on them. When they first came to town they did indeed buy out Wolfes Nursery. I never liked Wolfes and on the first few visits to Calloway's I was not impressed. But a few weeks ago I was in UNiversal City with some time to kill and I wandered into Calloway's and was suprized by the quality of the plants. They had a very good selection of Heirloom Tomatoes and other heirloom veggies. The prices were a bit high but the quality was very good. We need more good nurseries here. I won't buy plants from HD or Lowes.
