The new seasons of some of the shows I like are starting up. However, At&T in town has dropped 35 and the shows. That stinks - I get tens of crap channels showing whackos selling junk. Yeah, go complain - lot of good that will do.

One of the reasons I'm glad I pick up local channels free with an antenna.

I've toyed with getting an antenna but that's so retro. I recall them when I was a kid with the three networks, two independent VHF and one UHF. In those days, you had to wrap yourself in aluminum foil and dance a *** to get reception at times.

There are over 30 channels over the air now in San Antonio most in English, plus its digital TV nowadays so its not like the old fuzzy signal rabbit ear days. You either get the channel or you don't with an occasional glitch.

Plus the relatively flat landscape in in South Texas makes it easy to get TV signals. CW is 35.1 and if I remember correctly, there is also some generic ESPN sports like channel on 35.2 that replays past games.

Get yourself a Mohu leaf antenna and Best Buy or WalMart.

At WalMart they have a Mohu-type antenna made by Onn for $10.98 that works very well. I have tried several antennas and this one works the best for me.

As others have said, there are great high performance flat antennas now a days from multiple companies. I bought from a couple of companies and think the Flat Mohu Leaf works best compared to the others but Amazon will give you multiple good choices for $60 and under. A one time charge of $60 (or under) is a steal when compared to what people pay cumulatively (monthly each year, each and every year) to the cable companies for channels that are already free. The antenna will pay for itself within the first year of ownership and from there its money saved.

There are actually over 50 TV channels available in the San Antonio market free with an antenna. In addition to the local affiliates for national networks like ABC, CBS, PBS, etc., there are a number of specially-themed digital sub-channels that carry programming like classic TV shows, vintage movies, documentaries, etc. You really have to use an antenna if you want all of those channels, as the sub-channels are almost never available with a Satellite TV or streaming service, and only a few of them come with a traditional Cable package.

If practical to mount one, an outdoor or rooftop antenna will nearly always pull in at least a few more channels than an indoor antenna, but sometimes people are just trying to pull in the major networks. The outdoor antennas can usually be easily fed into the house using existing coax cables that were previously used to connect to the Cable TV box on the outside wall or the satellite dish.

I seldom watch CW programming, but what has happened to that local network affiliate delivered over AT&T TV service, could happen to any network affiliate delivered via any of the pay services.

Again, these issues don't affect those who use an OTA antenna to receive their programming. Also, in the case of CW (as well as some of the other networks), there is a free app that can be downloaded on a ROKU or similar streaming device, which permits on-demand viewing of their network programs and series, after they have been broadcast live.
