I'm mostly just looking for a place where we will be accepted socially as a gay couple. I've lived in places before I was out that were nice to your face, but you would be a social outcast/have **** said about you behind your back. I really just don't want to be a social pariah.
I would like some land, like around 1/3 an acre or so. That's what we have now. More land is always better. I'm into outdoors stuff. Budget is going to depend on salary. But I think 300k would be a safe number.

That’s going to be very hard to find in the area you need to be in. Some did say that this is one of the “most expensive” areas of Texas. I wouldn’t say that, but it is one of the more pricy areas of the SA metro. Try a search of Zillow/Redfin/realtor to get a better picture. I believe Zillow has s tool where you can put in the address and change the commute time. I also believe someone else mentioned it too, we are a live and let live community. You won’t be picked out of a crowd or shun in the SA area. You may stick out the further north you go, but anything that feels “unacceptable” is rare. I would also recommend renting before buying.

I wish I could answer your question but can't What sort of a job is you bf applying for? What does he do for a living? San Antonio has a large gay community and so does Austin. More to do if you two like going to clubs, concerts etc. if into cultural activities Also there's Houston and Dallas -Fort Worth. You have to think about what the two of you enjoy doing, when not working. There are museums here, lots of restaurants high end and hole in the wall, the Botanical Garden is nice, there are gyms here like Gold's Gym, Orange Theory, and Planet Fitness if you like to work out. Plenty of libraries, and if you wanted to go to the Texas Coast, it's about 200 miles or so to Corpus Christi, and about 85 I think to Port Lavaca. You can go fishing and do other things at the coast.Just something to think about. Also SA Current magazine has a website and they have reviews of places gay and straight which can give you some ideas about this place.

That's true everywhere for some people, not everyone. I don't think anyone cares at this point. They have either become more socially liberal, or are so socially conservative that they view society as hostile entirely and tend to be less likely to take it out on individuals.
