I'm moving back to San Antonio after living in Austin for a little over a decade.

I was wondering if there was anywhere in San Antonio that showed UK soccer matches (or would be the kind of place to show world cup in 2010). I'm a HUGE footie fan and spend most Saturday or Sunday mornings at Fado here in Austin to watch matches with other fans.

So, any chance of this when I move back?

ME!!!!

Although we don't have cable now, my husband just asked me this morning if we wanted to get it to watch the Euro....

Lion & the Rose on Broadway shows footie regularly. I think the other location of L&R does as well, but from the times I've been, the one on Broadway has a bit more of an English footie feel to it - more people actually go there to watch the matches.

During 2002 WC a group of friends just rotated houses at 2-7am to watch. During the last one was a little harder as it was mid-day, but a number of bars were showing the matches, such as Fatso's, but wasn't the same. During the season Lion & Rose shows many games on the weekends live. At least they did. It's been awhile since I could go.

In the Premiereship?
I don't have strict loyalties. I have a few teams I like (Aston Villa, Liverpool), but am not rabidly devoted to any one. It sometimes depends on the makeup of the team at any one time. I like watching certain players for their style. But honestly I haven't closely followed in a few years, other than to see who's on top or in the Champions League.

In International play I am first and foremost an England fan, although with a Swiss husband I have to support Switzerland too . I usually support the African teams because they're usually so fun to watch I don't want them knocked out early. I never support Germany (despite my dear German friend often hosting the viewings) or Argentina, being a rabid England fan. I am happy to see Ireland and Scotland do well. Usually love to watch Holland play with their Beautiful Game.

Anyone else stuck away from a TV while Champions League final is going on? Grrrrrrrrr.... I'm rooting for Chelsea and Michael Ballack, because unlike previous poster, I *always* support Germany.

1-1 after 120 minutes...in the final bit of stoppage time now...

looks like this one will be going to PKs...

Chelsea are down to 10 men, as Drogba was sent off for slapping Vidic...

edited...they are going to the penalty kicks now...I'll be back afterwards to let you know how it ended...
