I agree with rd. The wireless USB that AT&T provided sucked beyond all comparison. I ended up going to Altex and got a PCI wireless card for my desktop machine. No problems since that day...

The extra wireless router sounds like an excellent idea, too.

Primo,

Nope. I'm talking about the little wireless antenna that comes with the installation. It's not the Residential Gateway. The RG has been flawless and pushes out a strong signal. The only beef I had is that they set me up with WEP instead of WPA. Fixed that as soon as I found out.

I dont have any little antenna. My wireless internet comes directly from the Residential Gateway.

Uverse takes up to two weeks to bury the cable. I would agree with the usb adapter, but if you don't use the client manager that comes with it seems to work better. Sometimes if you just uninstall and reinstall the drivers that will keep it from dropping as well.

It took two tries to get the drivers right (XP Pro/64 bit), and it's only set up for the PC. Unplugging it and plugging back in brought it back to life. I'm seriously looking forward to setting up my personal wireless router as a gateway this afternoon, and finding which box the cables to hook up my Mac are hiding in...

Yeah, the USB adapter had all sorts of problems, but I think it was because I'm running Vista more than anything else. The connection was flaky, and when it worked I never got more than two signal bars.

I've used USB adapters with XP and they constantly need to be cycled. PCI cards or built-in mini cards in laptops are the best way to go.
BTW, USB has actually been really good in Vista for me. I've never had to cycle anything I have plugged into any of the computers I have that are running Vista.

There's an easement that goes around the edge and the amount will vary. That's one of the reasons why you have to get permission before you build anything in your back yard. and if you do happen to build something on it and it's in the easement, they can destroy if they need to do any work in the easement area. Definitely should find out what yours is, I also live in Westcreek and the easement is a good chunk of the yard..
