We are getting ready to move down this summer, and it seems like I've heard different stories from friends who have lived in San Antonio about pest control. Some tell me they didn't do any type of pest control and never saw anything in their houses, others tell me Pest Control was an absolute must. We are getting ready to buy a home and I'm wondering if I should have someone out to treat it before we move in. I don't have any experience whatsoever with pest control so I also do not have any idea what to expect. Thanks for your help!!

no, they always try to sell us at our house. 80 bucks every 2 months seems pretty ridiculous. i just go to home depot and get the big bottle and spray around the house myself.

We get a quarterly service. My wife absolutely hates bugs, so we find it's a good investment if for nothing other than (her) peace-of-mind. We use Texas Pest Control and they're very friendly and reasonable.

We get a quarterly service as well (Early Bird Pest Control). We never ever have bug issues so it's worth the $28 per month.

Monthly with Bulwark Exterminators. No scorpions, fire ants or any other annoying insects.

Do you use Pest Control?

Yes - Orkin. Well worth the money.

I live a few miles outside 1604.

In the last year the sticky-boxes the Orkin guy leaves in the garage have caught 2 coral snakes, a rat snake, and an unknown snake - saw it stuck in the box the other day.

I only have pics of the coral snakes, and here they are. Second one wasn't dead, and he was highly agitated.

If the pics bother you let me know and I'll edit them out, or a mod can.

Thank you all for your input! Wow, those snakes! With a small (7lb) dog and young kids, I am definitely thinking pest control would be worth it.

I vote for pest control as a must. We have it once every other month, but sometimes monthly in the warmer months. We live outside of town and scorpions are all over the place, so that makes it important to us. Don't use the chemicals yourself on a regular basis - the service is cheap and you can avoid inhaling toxic chemicals.

I use Orkin. I have grown to dislike the company itself (due to multiple misunderstandings with billing) but I will stick with them as long my current pest control man comes to my house because I really like his service.

Before I started using pest control, I would see bugs but now I don't see any at all. Well worth it.
