There were a lot of changes taking place around town as preparations for HemisFair 68' were under way. Remember St. Mary's Roller Rink? Right off St Mary's exit off I-35 North. After exiting there was an old house (junkyard) on your left as you came to St. Mary's. The roller rink was across St Mary's just to the right. Lot of memories in that old place. There were a lot of old cars, I mean model A's and such in that old junkyard. I remember a lot full of old 20's and 30' cars on Probandt St. (southside). When Hemisfair came and went all these cars diappeared. I always assumed some visitor to the fair from out of town saw all these old cars and bagged them up. Lived out behind H.B.Zachry's at the time and saw them build the cubicles (modules) which were used to construct the Hilton Palacio Hotel. What changes did you see?
