I have a Mexican dish recipe that calls for the spice "espazote" but I can not find it anywhere! Does anyone know how to find this herb in San Antonio? If so, please share!!

Well, whatever you do, please find the espazote, especially if you're making the black beans.

Although it is traditionally used with black beans for flavor and its antiflatulent properties, it is also sometimes used to flavor other traditional Mexican dishes as well: it can be used to season quesadillas and sopes (especially those containing huitlacoche), soups, mole de olla, tamales with cheese and chile, chilaquiles, eggs and potatoes and enchiladas.

Does anyone know if epazote has an english translation, because some of the stores I have gone to have no clue what this spice is, and I really can't describe it?

Epazote (Epázotl) does not have or need an "English name". It is native to south and central México but has been growing wild in the north and what is now called 'Texas' for several hundred years and is considered an invasive species in some parts of the American South. I grow it in my Eastside San Antonio garden. Beer used in borracho beans has been an alternative since it best imitates epazotes taste which some have likened to a metallic or mineral spirits taste.
