Joining a sports league is a great way to meet new people. The sports group TX_Aggie13 may be refering to is San Antonio Sports and Social Club (sanantoniossc.com). I've been playing in that league since it first arrived in SA in March 2007. I've met a lot of great people while playing kickball, beach volleyball, dodgeball, bowling, and indoor volleyball. They also have flag football and softball. Many people I've met in that league recently moved to SA. There are also softball and beach volleyball leagues at Time Warner Park.

People already covered this one, but yeah... get out and do things you like doing. People will come along sometime after that. And if all else fails I guess there's the interweb.

I went to James Madison University in Virginia, and met up with other alumni recently that live in San Antonio. See if your colleges have a chapter in San Antonio.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned giving a person a beer.. alcohol is the universal language of SA and you'll have more friends than you ever wanted

this issue is the biggest complaint i have about san antonio. the good news is there are many many people here that are from someplace else. i have watched it over the last 7 years and it has been interesting.

when we first got here i NEVER saw anyone out walking, running, riding bikes or anything outdoors related (other than fishing and floating the rivers). slowly i saw a change in this, even the parks that i go to hike are getting more and more people. when i have the opportunity to speak with these people they are almost always not from san antonio. i found this amusing for some reason. so there are lots of
people here who more like the people we are used to from the north.

That said i will share the biggest mistake i made, and that i see others make who move to texas. first off just accept that texas believe that texas is the best place on earth, don’t even hint that you may disagree. its an discussion that will put you setting by yourself very quickly.

second, texans don’t care how you did things or how things are back in --enter your state here-. don’t tell them how even the smallest thing was better back in --enter your state here-. Actually, never even say the words “back in --enter your state here-.”

once i stopped doing those two things, and started looking can commenting on what i liked about texas, my social standing at work got sooooooooooooo much better. Please listen to me on this one!

Anyway we do need to have a meet and greet sometime soon, i know that we need some new friends, most of ours have moved away!

Default Meet & Greet

Regarding the requests for a Meet & Greet ~

Just do it!!!

I've organized 2 CD M&G's, and several others have organized them. (If you do a search for "meet and greet" and make it specific for San Antonio, you'll be amazed at how many threads there are for them!) It has been a while since we've done one for CD.

Pick a place, pick a date/time, and just do it!

We can have a Christmas M&G someplace that serves good coffee and desserts...

Maybe Lazarus, or Marie C's, etc...the Radisson on 151 has outdoor firepits...
