Info for everyone traveling eastbound HWY 90 to work : the HWY is closed at Zarzamora due to several severe accidents, one vehicle burning right now. Find another route to work.

Thanks for the heads up. You really don't want to know which way I took to get home. It took me an extra fifteen minutes.

I was headed to work in the westbound lane. They even had a fire truck parked in west bound 90. Looked like a real bad one. Hope no one was hurt too badly. There was a traffic jam on the west bound side while they were routing cars around the fire truck. Just as I suspected as soon as most people got around the firetruck they continued they're normal driving pattern. Speeding, tailgating, cell phone yacking. You would think the scene on the other side of the freeway would have had some impact (no pun intended) but it didn't look like anyone got the message.

I don't know what it is, but it seems like down here there are so damn quick to block as many lanes as possible. I guess if it is warranted, then okay. But just blocking one lane creates a huge mess.

As a side note, it seems that whether I am driving to work or driving back, there is always a car sitting on the shoulder with a shredded tire. Everything from SUVs, Hummers, and passenger cars. Does the average Joe just not keep their tires properly inflated?

Interesting. I go through there a bit earlier, usually around 6 or a few minutes after. When I was going through there this morning (I think it was around Zarzamora) there was a cop car, and probably two fire trucks on the right side, with the far right lane closed. I tried not to be too distracted while driving by, but it didn't look like an accident. There was a car there, but it looked like maybe the person was sick (could have had chest pains or something I guess) as for the best I could tell the driver was still sitting in the car, the driver's door was open, and someone appeared to be talking with or attending to the driver. I had forgotten all about it until I read this post. I wonder if that "incident" contributed to the accidents?

The eastbound 90 accident with the vehicle on fire had one fatality. Not sure on injuries.
