You may have visited during a "Red Tide" (aka harmful algal bloom). When these microorganisms take over the bay, they tint the water reddish-brown, and kill sea life. This usually occurs in the warmest months of spring and summer, and tends to be accompanied by a foul odor (rotting fish). It's quite a comon, natural occurance along the Gulf Coast bays and beaches, and many other areas with marine as well as fresh water coasts. Other than that, I can think of no other bad smells in Corpus (maybe the Oso, but I grew up in FB, on Oso front property, so maybe I am immune).

Yes, red tides can be horrific.

San Antonio might have more white collar jobs than blue collar ones but we are far from being a "corporate city'. We do have many jobs in the "service industry".

San Antonio and Corpus have been almost like sister cities for one reason, the Tex-Mex culture. In this vain the people are very similar, those who speak Spanglish, those who grew up with Tex-Mex food, etc. Go too far south and you are in the valley which has different kind of people, too far north, another. There is no where else in the world between these two cities, and near them, to find authentic Tex-Mex food, which is not the same as Mexican food.

San Antonio has many service industry jobs however; that is not our number one industry. Medical, Financial and Government jobs are all ahead of the service industry.

I am not saying San Antonio is better than CC or vice versa but anyone that says these two cities are similar, must be smoking some serious crack.

There's a lot of truth in this, but bottom line, the biggest economic generator in San Antonio is the military, bar none,

LOL. If you're a fan of smells and odours, I would suggest spending some time in Pasadena, otherwise known locally as "Stink-a-dena".

Ive always thought of CC as a mini vacation town, or a beach town, good for a visit but i'd never choose to live there.
