I have found a wonderful childrens' photographer that is very reasonable IMO so I've had pictures taken of my daughter every three months. (newborn, 3 months, and *gasp* we're onto 6 months!) Anyway, we've been doing the photos at my house (in her nursery etc). They're wonderful, but for her 6 month pics, I want to take some outdoor pictures. So far, I've come up with
*Sunken Gardens (does anyone know, do you have to pay to get in & take pics?)
*McNay (can pics be taken there for free?)
*Missions (I had my bridal pics done there- amazing background, but I don't think it will be very good for a baby)

My daughter will just be sitting (here's hoping she'll be able to sit on her own in 2 weeks! lol)... I just want a pretty green background. Maybe some water... I'm not too sure...

Free places preferred Oh and if anyone needs a photographer rec, send me a DM. I have 2 that I think are equally wonderful and very reasonable!

THANKS!

Japanese Tea Garden is free.. but I think it would be difficult to get a picture in w/ all the people who tour there and thin walking paths.

We were at the botanical gardens last week w/ my daughter's field trip, and there were a few people getting their pictures taken there. It's not free, but it's beautiful there!

The McNay charges $20 if you are going to take formal, posed portraits with a professional photographer.

Have you ever been to the Trinity campus? Trinity spends a fortune on landscaping - they have beautiful, lush grounds with some water features. If you're interested, I can tell you of a few really great places in particular to do photos.

That's an idea!!! We were actually married at Trinity! (Parker Chapel) So Trinity has some meaning for us, for sure! Would you mind sharing where you think we could get some nice pics?

I bet you had a lovely wedding! I love that chapel and the courtyard in front of it.

The three or four places off the top of my head are the walled meditation garden that's part of Parker Chapel, the fountain, which was moved to a new location behind the new Northrup Hall building, the new water feature in the front of campus (it's like a little acequia) and the area in front of the library by the Standing Stones sculpture. Plus, as you are aware the Esplanade that runs from the Coates Center to Parker Chapel has magnificent views of downtown.

Basically on a sunny day, you will have an abundance of really picturesque spots to look at if you just wander around Upper Campus.
