Is this in response to the closing of the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater?

Why doesn't the city or some private entity redevelop Sunken Gardens into a 5,000-7,000 seat modern outdoor theater? It'd be perfect for bands touring and also a Music Festival with other stages set up just down the hill at Brack Park and the Brack driving range.

Sunken is in use this weekend for South Texas Rock Fest.

Not having Verizon has cost SA to miss several summer tours.

The Sunken is a POS right now. Seriously. It's in dire need of repair. But honestly, it should be transformed into a medium sized outdoor music venue that supports music tours both small and medium and large.

The only thing is I'm not sure if its logistically possible. Anyone know?

How about Sunset Station? Not very big but I've seen at least one concert there that was nice fun

I think sunken is too small. these summer package tours tend to book tours in ampitheaters like verison wireless.

The Sunset Station area is another possible location but I like the outdoorsy atmosphere of Sunken.

However, if you mean Sunset Station personally, then no, it wouldn't work. It's too small for medium-big tours.

Imagine the property across the tracks from Sunset becoming a House of Blues as well as a larger indoor music venue, it would transform that area of the Inner East.

anyone know the size of that place in corpus called concrete street ampitheater? I've seen package tours come right through us/skip us, and play there in corpus.

Hence redeveloping/transforming it into a larger venue. 7,000-10,000 is enough for medium-big tours, if a tour needed a bigger spot, they could easily go to the at&t center. Also, many may not know this, but UTSA and NISD are partnering with each other to build a 10,000 seat arena, to be built at UTSA's main campus off 1604.
