Good mexican food, good weather(if you like the sun), and generally fun.

Lots of bars, restaurants, as well as theme parks.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Sea World are here. Sea World is on the west side of town so if you lived on the NW side, you'd most likely be within 30 min. of there.

I think the schools here are typically good and overall I see it as an good place to live and raise a family.

But then again, I am a single guy that has never been married so I am enjoying my time in players paradise.

So, getting back to this point. Is SA seeing an influx of Illegal activity? Directly proportional to the higher taxes in the area possibility

As to the OP --

I know several people in San Antonio who are from Europe or lived in Europe for a while. They all love San Antonio because they say that it has a similar feel to where they're from. However, all of these people live either in Alamo Heights, Southtown/King William, or Monte Vista. All of these areas are more historic. The Southtown area, specifically, is within walking distance to restaurants and just a trolley ride away from downtown and the riverwalk. Other than Alamo Heights, these areas are all San Antonio Independent School District. But many families that live in the more expensive homes pay for their children to go to the Alamo Heights schools or private schools.

I have a friend who lives in Charlotte right now and she loves San Antonio.

What is your definition of "latin vibe?"

Because words are just words, I don't take offense. However, I am Hispanic not Mexican regardless of what some article says or doesn't. My family has been here for over 8 generations not to mention not only do I have Mexican blood but also Irish and Spanish. Therefore, I am Hispanic.

There is a big difference, especially in attitudes. Back in Arizona, Hispanics don't associate with Mexican and vise versa. I think it's they look down on each other, not sure why.

That would be correct.

Every metro area in the country is and has been for the last 10-15 years. I think the worst hit has been Atlanta.

What's so great about San Antonio?

The weather, good Mexican food, the Riverwalk. That's really about it.

If you're looking for a cosmopolitan city with a lot going on this just isn't it.

San Antonio is a very family friendly city. We moved here with a one year old and have been pleasantly suprised how much there is to do here as a family. The zoo, Sea World, Six Flags, and Schiltterbahn are all bonuses here. There are nice shopping areas and there are a lot of day trips near by. My husband and I have ventured to some of the parks and lakes and none have let us down. There are many areas that are great for families, look on this message board for some great info. on neighborhoods and schools. We love it here.
