Shark, my only advise, don't have the words "bagel" in your store's name. IMO, people see that and they assume you only do bagels so they keep driving. If you have a name and then under put "Bagels. Coffee. Sandwhiches" it's do better, again, IMO.

Also, check your DM.

Oh, no shark. I didn't mean you were being snarky. Sorry if it sounded that way. We're just used to the carrot being dangled in front of our faces over here.

Yeah, but did you SEE the <coughcoughATMOSPHEREcough> at that place??? Hmmmm....... "let's take an ordinary store front, put in some cafeteria style chairs, and call it a Bagel Shop!" Please! If "It's a Grind" were where Starbucks is.... I'd be there at least 4 times a week. AND I'd have several of my business meetings there. We have NOTHING like that here! (Sips is WAY too far out Potranco to count, no matter HOW freakin nice it is and no matter HOW tasty their food is.)

I'm only one person (family), but if there were a good bagel/coffee house place over here, we'd buy 1-2 dozen bagels at least every week, I'd personally hit the "AS" (average sale) prolly 3-5/week, and I'd meet with clients there at least once per week. Especially with free wi-fi. I HATE meeting with clients at Starbucks because it's so loud that you can't hear each other speak and there's nothing to eat there that's "vegetarian friendly" other than super high sugar stuff!

I don't know anything about It's a Grind...but that rent where Starbuck's is..has to be MUCH higher...maybe even double that spot where CB was/is.

I hope he does well...it's strange town to sell bagels in though...never seen anything like it. Even McD's doesn't sell their bagel sandwiches here...weird.
I'm in Sandy Eggo now...tons of places to get bagels, as you know.

Yeah, we are planning on putting a lot of healthy, vegetarian choices on our menu. such as, delicious homeade hummus, salads, paninis, and more.

I bet you're right about the rent! But "It's A Grind" is in The Strand at Huebner/IH-10 (near Flying Saucer). It's NEVER been "busy" when I've been in there. I think if the same *place* that CB had been done NICE, it would have done better. It's all atmosphere, baby!

And shark, quite taunting me!!!!!

That's really a good idea - I'm not a bagel fan so off down the road I go...

There really is a shortage of coffee house type hangouts though.
