my friend and i are coming on our trip this week finally! we really wanted to tube on the guadalupe, but it appears the water level is too low. same thing with san marcos. it appears though the comal seems to have the best water level at the moment.

so far would you recommend the comal for us? we just want a nice river to relax in for maybe 2 hours.

We tubed on the Comal 3 weeks ago and water levels were good and we had a blast! Water levels may not be as high as normal, but enough for a great time.

what time do you reccomend going on the comal? as soon as we can get the tube? i hear it is crowded especially now that the water level is bad on the guad. my friend and i will like to spend the day tubing, walking around gruene, and getting a late lunch/early dinner at the gristmill. we probably will be floating on a saturday which is the only day we can really this.

what comal tube renting place do you recommend? i just want to know which address to load on my gps lol. thanks

Can't help on the rentals-we had friends who provided tubes. I'd start between 3-4 to avoid peak crowds getting into the water. It does get cool at 7 because the sun hides behind the trees and the water is cold.

oh so you recommend 3 to 4? thats what makes me nervous. we will be doing this most likely on a saturday and i hear on yelp that you want to rent the tubes as early as possible so you dont wait an hour in line! i would prefer to go at 3 or 4, but we are renting so i am sure thats what makes it a big difference!

Comal, agreed. I'd recommend going before noon. Landa River Trips is a good outfitter and you get the longest amount of float time. Going earlier means you still beat the crowds and you have time to float again if you are so inclined.

Due to the fact OP will be renting, I'd probably agree best time is before noon to be sure rentals are available. I'm guessing the most crowded to get in (lines just to get in) are early afternoon based on large crowds we saw further downstream of people just hanging out.
