Exactly. Plus custody issues. BOTH parents must either be present when a child's pp is applied for, or the non-present parent must sign a notarized affadavit allowing the other parent to get a pp for the child.

Bumping up this thread. I have to go on a Saturday to apply for kids passports. Is Perrin Beitel the only post office in San Antonio open on Saturdays? What's the crowd situation like? What about the post office next to Central Market, is that still there and do they do passports?

I got my passport this past summer, I wasted several billable hours driving across town to the Perrin Beitel location, arriving shortly after they open it up to be told there would be a 3hour wait or worse we are already full today.... (days in a row) I finally called the location on Da Zavala and complained and they said they would squeeze me in on the next appointment day there... Turns out a appointment is just one of the regular post office employees grabbing a clipboard and doing it.... do everything you can online and have all the paper work printed out along with your passport photo's already taken, I got mine at Costco. The whole process should be a reminder on how government bureaucracy works.

Serna is open on Saturdays till noon. They do the passport paperwork. They are not really busy. Serna is located on Austin Hwy and Harlow.

Thanks elnina, so Serna has Saturday hours, that's good. Anyone else want to recommend a Saturday hours post office for passport processing? By the way I have everything filled out, photos taken, all that ready to go to apply for the passport. I'm trying to avoid the Perrin Beitel location as I see here that it does get busy on Saturdays.

Good luck with that. After going to the PB post office at 8 am the next Saturday (after my original rant--thinking that I'll show them by getting there early! well the laugh was on me not them and I was even more livid than before) a few months back with hubby and kids in tow, we get there and were told they would not see us as they had all the customers they could do for the day (maybe 25 people in line) and they didn't open until 9 (and their hours are to be open until 3 now--and they couldn't do more than 25 people in 6 hours?). Bunch of crap if you ask me....especially when I was probably the ONLY one there that had all my documents, didn't need pictures done (already had them), etc.
So another complaint filed with the PO fell on deaf ears. So I made an appt at the PO near my house and made it for the afternoon the day before Thanksgiving--kids were out of school, I was off that day, so got it all done. Yep, I wa PO'd and being a *B*. Didn't care. And then we get there...I had ALL the paperwork done, copies of all the required documents (mine and hubby's id's for the kids' passports, etc), photos in hand. And I had to pay the PO $25 for each passport just for the guy to "certify" everything. We were in there for less than 15 minutes for 3 passports and I had to pay them $75? This in addition to the cost of the passports. Ridiculous....
I'd recommend that you call Serna first to make sure they will do walk ins. Just because they are open on Saturdays, doesn't mean they will do passports. Go to
USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service) and you can search locations and narrow it down to those who will do passports....all those I found require an appointment (except of course the PB location).

Yeah, I remember reading your first post on this thread. That's why I decided to bump up this thread and see if anyone else had recommendations. I do have to go on a Saturday. If I have to make an appointment to do it on a Saturday, that's fine with me. I will call up the Serna post office. And report back here with my experience. But first I call the Serna Post Office...

The three post offices I called (near me) to schedule an appointment did not do Saturdays. Good luck with getting it done. Let us know what you find out so that maybe others will benefit.
