I just had to go into Stone Oak (insert your own comment) and had to drive through the intersection of Blanco & Huebner, you know, the one that they are expanding. Well today they are doing something big, because they turned off the traffic light in this intersection and have a traffic cop directing traffic. When I finally got home after waiting for many minutes of sitting, I tried to find out if this would be pretty much done by late today or what, as I have a back to school night to get to at 5:45pm up at Wilderness Oak. I ran into a bunch of dead end sites. Does anybody know a website or phone number to call to find out more "up to the minute" information about what they are doing day to day?

For the most part, the work on this project hasn't been too horrible, but once in a while they do have to shut down lanes, etc. and it is a real bummer. If one could plan for it and drive around, it could be easier to swallow. TIA!

Eww! My Condolences (for you and everyone that drives over there!). I have no answers though. When I am in that area it's to go from Huebner to Blanco to Bitters. I didn't even know they were fixing it!

Got an update on this today and it appears this project will be completed 6 months ahead of schedule!! January 2010 is what the project manager is predicting. (This obviously depends on the weather cooperating)

When I drove, errr....crawled up Blanco yesterday, they were just beginning to pave the NB lanes.

I don't know where the January 2010 date came from...but they have made some pretty good progress in the last few months. It still feels like there is a long way to go however. Does anyone have any updates on the latest timeline for this project?

They were waaaay ahead of schedule but apparently it has now been delayed 2-4 months thanks to the discovery of karst features (caves, sinkholes, limestone formations, etc) and the fact the some endangered species ** may ** be present. So now they have to investigate, test and just waste time in general before tackling the remainder of the project. They are still doing some work but the main work has obviously been delayed.

I heard something about the 'karst' discovery, but I don't really understand why they can't spend a week or two reworking the schedule to all focus at the intersection and area south of Huebner during the 'investigation'. There has to be a good 3-6 months of work left once the karst thing is cleared up so it would make sense to work in an area that is available now. That would assume though that there was built in incentive to finish the project earlier than later and I also don't know the rules involving the karst discovery.

I also don't really see the point of a several month investigation...are they negotiating with blind salamanders on a relocation package?

This had been posted on StoneOakInfo.com:
Discovered karst feature delays Blanco Rd project | StoneOakInfo.com

However, I read somewhere else (but cannot for the life of me remember where!) that the delays were now not expected to be as long.

Default Blanco & Huebner

I'm sorry if this has already been addressed in an earlier thread, but when is this nightmare of an intersection going to be finally finished? What is the hold up? I'm just so tired of sitting on Blanco Rd. in traffic trying to cross Huebner Rd.
