Only been to one, but I like Bangkok 54 on Nacogdoches just north of its intersection with Loop 410. Across Nacogdoches from Sun Harvest.

Yeah, I went to Bangkok 54 over the weekend for the first time and I loved it. The Pad Thai is incredible. Bangkok 54 Restaurant at San Antonio (http://www.bangkok54restaurant.com/SanAntonio.html - broken link)

Thai House on Rittiman, less than a mile west of I-35, is the correct answer.

Best Thai Buffet would be Thai Cafe on Perrin Beitel.

I'll throw in another vote for Thai Topaz! It's very near to the Spurs practice facility. You never know, you may run into one of them. The owner has a picture prominently displayed with him and Pop in it. The owner said he didn't even know who he was at the time.

I'm another Tong's Thai fan. We go once every two weeks or so.

So I have been desperately searching for good Thai food place in town, and now thanks to you all I have some more options to try, Although to narrow my search I'm looking for an AUTHENTIC Thai food restaurant were I can get a large bowl of steamed rice and well prepared fish sauce for appetizer and some spicy food that will melt my face off. I don't care if the kitchen/ building is disgustingly decrepit as long as the food is homely (well priced, and served in a comfortable laid back atmosphere) and delicious. Any suggestions?

Still recommend Tong's Thai of Austin Highway. As to heat, just ask for it a bit spicier.

Sun Harvest is now called Sprouts. Bangkok 54 still remains.

I also like Thai Bistro & Cafe on De Zavala Road across from Mr. Cod. Friendly older couple (the owners I would venture) greets you as you go into the restaurant. Definitely a nice relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend for eating local!
