And I had to watch Old Yellar last month. This makes up for that! BTW - hero boss already has a small army of rescued animals. But he couldn't part with these babies. He's my latest hero too.

I used to volunteer for a Golden Rescue in Md so my heart goes out to the pups and kudos to him for being such a kind soul. If my house wasn't already full of gold hairballs I'd offer a home. I also wanted to mention that the Golden rescue linked earlier has been rather troublesome to deal with. I tried contacting them multiple times to offer some volunteer work/foster home, but couldn't get anyone to respond. I even went through someone at another Golden rescue who knew someone there and I still haven't heard anything from them so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on them for assistance as unfortunate as that is.

I've always had someone from this rescue group contact me, so maybe things have changed lately. At any rate, I'm glad the pups are in good hands now.

Yesterday I lost my sweet little Bella, she ran outside when I didn't notice. I went to bed and didn't know she was gone until the morning. My heart was broken. After 8 hours of her being gone, I had slim hopes of ever finding her. But I didn't care what the odds were. I was not going to give up.

I printed over 500 flyers off my poor little printer (it had smoke coming out of it) and for 8 long, hot hours, I went to every neighborhood, every vet, every store and placed up those flyers. I put them on cars, on poles, on doors, offered money to the men who go around mowing yards to look out for her, gave fliers to people walking down the street, found kids on bicycles and gave them fliers and promised them money if they found her. I swore that I would never give up finding my sweet little Bella. If it took forever, I was never going to stop. I prayed that God would touch the heart of somebody who obviously had picked her up or found her and that they would find my flyer or, if they wanted to keep her, that they would be kind enough to be good to her. Not knowing what had happened to her was torture.

By chance and by the grace of God, a wonderful couple had found her and placed fiyers up immediately. Soon, kind people were calling me saying that the picture of my dog looked like the description on the "DOG FOUND" flyers in their neighborhood. And even more incredible, at the time, I was searching only 1/2 block away from the home where Bella had been found. This was over 3 miles away from my home!! The couple walked outside with her and when I saw it was her, I broke down and cried. They even refused the $500 reward I had offered for her. They had bathed her and fed her. God bless these wonderful people.

If you ever find a dog, please put up posters. Place a "dog found" ad with the local shelters, go to the local vets and give them the "dog found"poster because that is the first place lost pet owners go to report this. Please try to find the owners. Somewhere someone's heart is breaking for a lost treasured pet. You could be a hero for a desperately hurting person and lost and scared little animal.

great great great post, bellabellabijou....
I am SUCH a sucker for animals, and when I hear a sad story about an animal (any animal) my heart breaks to pieces, and I hardly ever completely forget.... I am sooooo glad that you found your sweetie....
