Cruuunch, Ugh! It's a Cricket Invasion | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News

I was coming out of Super Target this morning and I seriously thought I was gonna hurl. They were EVERYWHERE in the entrance/exit area. Yuck! Apparently it's due to the rainy spring/summer we've had. WOAI had some seriously disturbing looking video footage though--it was as if it was from a horror film. Ew.

The crickets do this each and every year, rain or shine, drought or no drought.

I was at a Valero over by OLLU and a homeless dude pointed out an outside wall to me - it was literally writhing with crickets. His exact words were, "Ma'am! MA'AM! Have you SEEN that?! That is so disgusting! Hey, do you have five bucks?"

Yeah, I thought the invasion of the Snout butterflies was bad...I'm about ready to put the grill screen on my Jeep! Last weekend I was out by Medina Lake in the open Jeep, and I must've squashed a billion of the suckers!
Bleh!

Cheers! M2

They definitely do in E. Texas, but the people I talked to at Target today said this is crazy for SA. *shrugs* Either way, it's still really, really gross.

I am not kidding when I say this...but I found one of them in my apartment last night! They're everywhere!

I saw them about a week ago by the millions in the car dealer parking lot on the corner of San Pedro and Olmos. I thought I was gonna get attacked and killed. Haha.

And today, as I was passing through the San Antonio College parking garage, there were literally like hundreds and hundreds of them dead (all clumped together) on the steps going up to the higher floors of the parking garage.

Also today, when I arrived to rent the Surrogates DVD movie at a Redbox on San Pedro and Cypress (McDonald's location) there were several crickets on the ground. I had to kill one because you could tell it was dying so I stomped on it and put it out of its misery.

They're annoying.

I remember this in Dallas it seemed every August. You would drive down the road thru a swarm of them or go to Albertsons and they would be covering the outside walls and parking lots. disgusting.

I went through the drive-thru at McDonalds in Lockhart and there were crickets all over, it was almost like a plague, me and the girl in the drive-thru had to time opening the window at the same time so they didnt fly in. They love this TX weather I guess, they are all over, I find them in my apartment, at work and I hear them everytime I go out at night, seriously its like a plague.

Yes, for some reason I noticed too that they particularly like car dealer parking lots...
The problem is not new, though http://www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...-invasion.html
