Please help! We have guests to entertain but the forecast is for rain rain rain! Ideas we have so far are: Witte Museum, Alamo (inside) and Natural Bridge Caverns. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'll come play monopoly, send your friends to the zoo, open rain or shine. Also the movies, Avatar is great. I'll let them know how good the wine and xheese were. There is also the art museum, McNay Gallery, but the best is wine and cheese with a board game. Visiting is better than running around in a flood.

That is an excellent idea.

Caves and museums are good. Institute of Texan Cultures is good. There are some excellent movies out now. Even in the wet, a trip to Fredericksburg is good. Lots of shops and stuff. Wildseed Farms is close by out there, and so are the wineries. If you go eat in Fredericksburg, try the Rathskeller restaurant for breakfast. Here's a link. Breakfast is all I have ever eaten there. (Wow, they've raised their prices a bit. It's still worth it).

Mission San Jose probably has the best indoor display and best rainy day parking of the missions. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park - Directions (U.S. National Park Service)

Yep!! Paved parking area and a Visitor's Center up front. You can sit in the theater and see a movie on the mission's while waiting for rain to stop. They didn't spend millions on that Visitor's Center for nothing. There's a nice movie theater inside it! Souvenirs of all sorts and static displays. Even plenty places inside Mission to duck for cover. Mill house , Church and room with mission model and exhibits in other rooms. Good idea Bowie!

What would you do differently if it wasn't raining?

Go shopping? Eat at a restaurant? Go to a movie? Drive? Visit a museum? Majestic Theater? etc etc! It's all indoors...unless you plan to walk the Riverwalk. But...walking the Riverwalk in the rain is probably an experience your guests will never forget.....

I would avoid the caves. They can flood in heavy rains and may close for safety as the water coming in can make the walkways slick. Those caves were formed from rain water events I would not use them during a heavy rain. You can see photos from when they flooded a few years back.

Dave and Busters can be fun. on weekdays you can get a meal and a bunch of game credits with their specials.

Otherwise I would say go to a nice restaurant like Bin555 or something and then take it home for some games and wine like others have said.

If you just have to explore town you may want try the Institute of Texan Cultures

You may also want to go to the bar at the top of the tower. It will get you a free ride up and you can relax with a drink and see the whole city at once while its raining.

I was just thinking th Mission, seems more realistic on a rainy day. Lunch at lubys on Military dr.

Market Square indoors with lunch at Mi Tiera

Blue Star and King William tour with a stop at Joeys for a spot of home brew or on of the little Bistros on Alamo for coffee.

I think Downtown is more interesting in the cool rain...Hall of horns Buckhorn museum is on Houston St, with lunch at Schilo's
