Hi,

Does anyone know where there is a flight pattern posted for the San Antonio airport?

When we lived in Seattle - we were directly under the flight path. Don't want to make the same mistake with our next home purchase!

Thanks!

Generally, around the airport (Hwy 281 and Loop 410) is where most of the noise will come from. As for Kelly Field (old Kelly AFB) just south of Hwy 90, you can hear the C5's overhead making their approach from the Northwest as far as Loop 1604.
Here is a link from San Antonio's noise abatement programs:

Here is a SA CD link that addresses the noise issue:

The PDF maps on the page below show the new noise contours for the airport. Those noise contours are where the noise is so bad that the federal government subsidizes home modifications to mitigate the noise from planes flying overhead.

Look at 'Flight Aware', on the net- I am not sure if they show patterns or not. Don't forget about military craft.

The link for the SAT noise contour map(s) is gone. Anyone have another link to a detailed map? I'm buying a home in SA and would really like that info! Thanks!

Call the airport office and ask to speak to the Noise Abatement Officer. His name used to be Jerry Rankin, I think he is still there. He has a noise contour map. Recognize that he is a city employee and not overly burdened with information or ideas.

If he is no help, please post such and I can probably find the engineering company that compiled the data.

It looks like the FAA recently approved a new Noise Contour Map that was submitted. I can't find a link to the map, but I did find a couple of people that can be contacted to obtain a copy of the map.

I can tell you that the majority of the departures at SAT are from Runway 12R, which means the neighborhood to the Southeast of the airport, the Oak Park & Northwood area, gets the bulk of the noise. Oak Park and Northwood are upper-middle-class neighborhoods where most of the homes were built in the 1950s.

I also know that Jerry Rankin recently retired from the airport.
