The 19th World Cup (South Africa 2010) that is played every 4 years is going to start on Friday June 11th with the game Mexico-South Africa.

For this reason, I decided to write an article for SA Express-News called

“Why does the World stop for the World Cup?”

Ha! That's funny as when I was stationed at NATO headquarters, things would pretty much stop during the FIFA World Cup! If you wanted to find anyone, most likely they'd be in the cafeteria where they had television set up showing the matches. And even if you were lucky enough to find who you were looking for, there was little chance you could pull them away from the game to do any work!

You forgot to plug the Crocketeers:

Join us on June 12, 2010 (1:00 PM) at Park North Alamo Drafthouse to watch the USA vs England World Cup Match in glorious High-Definition on the big screen. Stadium seating plus food, beer, wine. Admission is free with ticket. We will be selling Travis 250 memberships, scarves, signing up basic members, and cheering for our country. Travis 250 members receive free popcorn.
I wonder if my British counterparts will be attending?

Cheers! M2

I'm not too familiar with the World Cup but I have had a number of letters published in the Express News for the past 10 years (mostly minor opinion letters) and one in the San Antonio Current in 2001. I had one published a month ago; I sent one in last week to EN but they never called back.

It's a really amazing feeling when you see your letters in there, isn't it.

My letter was a rough draft,
another guy "fixed it up" to be look professional.

Thanks MajorMadMax plugging that in.

Yea. They always edit for clarity and space. Sometimes for the betterment of an article other times, no.
