Hello everyone,
My husband and I are in our mid 20's/early 30's and we want to relocate by 2011 out of Orange County CA. We think its beautiful and safe here and enjoy the cool ocean breeze but 1) its way too expensive 2) have an issue with the lack of parenting/disrespectful children in our area 3) very non-conservative views 4) lack of good tech jobs available.
My husband has a computer security networking degree and is looking for a job in his field. I work as a top avertising consultant at the 8th rated best publishing company in the world. We are looking for very specific things. We are not certain yet on which area would best meet the lifestyle we are looking for.
One of the two places we are considering is Temecula. I have been there and liked it before but dont know much the area. Im going to tell you what we are looking for so you can tell us if you think this would be the right or wrong place for us. I apologize in advance if anyone is offened by my preferences but it would be hard for me to tell you what Im looking for without expressing them. Sorry if my preferences dont match your own.
My husband and I are looking for 1) a safe community with low crime. We are looking for 2) an affordable place to rent/buy apartments/homes. We are looking for 3) an area with well behaved children (parents who take an interest in raising their kids with manners). We are looking to be around other conservative people who are NOT pro gay marraige or pro abortion. We are looking for an area with decent jobs available (tech jobs would be great for my husband). We prefer a suburb area that is within 15 minutes driving distance of a main city that has shopping, places to eat, jobs. We dont want to live in an area with high crime or drugs.
The other place we are considering is Sandy, UT.
Can you tell me based on what Im looking for if you think Temecula area has any good spots for us or if we are better of moving out of state? Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please dont reply with any rude comments as one disrespecful user did, Clongirl. This person suggested I move close to a good high school because they said my writing wasnt up to their standards. I pity anyone who is just one here to waste people's time with nasty comments. Only serious and helpful suggestions please. Thanks so much!

If Mission Viejo (!!!) isn't conservative enough for you, it's time to consider another state. I'm pretty sure Utah or Southern Idaho are where your people can be found.

1) Yes Temecula is a safe community with low crime. 2) affordability somewhat depends on ones definition of affordable. Temecula is much more affordable then the OC. 3) I don't know about the kids but they all seem to be well behaved as far as I can tell. As far as peoples beliefs in Gay marriage, I am not sure as we have only lived in Temecula since Nov 09 and thats not what I normally ask when I first meet people. I can tell you that I don't think Temecula has a very large gay population as its mostly families with children. I don't think there are many tech jobs in Temecula. Your husband would most likely have to commute somewhere far away from Temecula. I am not sure what you mean about a city within 15 mins. Temecula has shopping and plenty of restaurants so you wouldn't really need to leave the area for any of that stuff but jobs they really don't have. My wife and I love Temecula so far, we are not house broke, the weather is decent, people are nice and the community is good. But then again we don't put as much emphasis on ones beliefs on same sex marriage or abortion. To each his own.

Good luck

How 'bout Amarillo, Texas? It sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

I agree with this(among other places). I think Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs both would be good potential job search locations that also would have more conservative views than what you currently find in MV(which is already on the righter side of the county).

Temecula is very nice, but it doesn't have the jobs and the drive to the jobs is always getting worse with the nearest job center being Riverside, but with that kind of degree maybe the Indian casinos would work? Plenty out there that part of Riverside county and northern SD county

Miss Poison, your post is so full of "dog whistles" it's making my ears ring. Maybe that's why it's attracting nasty replies.

If you can afford to live in Mission Viejo, you can afford to live anywhere. I respectfully suggest that, for your sake and the sake of your family, you move someplace where you'll be surrounded by a diversity of people. You will quickly find that people are basically the same all over. Try it for just a year or two. You will get over your phobias and biases before you pass them along to your kids.

I'm really not trying to be nasty. That is my sincere advice. If this idea does not appeal to you, than I regretfully recommend that you do leave the state.

california will always be liberal so if you stay you will be just another pissed off conservative listening to jon and ken and ranting about all the gay lovin' liberals. head inland to utah or colorado or where ever else intolerant people gather. just make sure they are intolerant about the same things as you and you should be happy. and i'm not using intolerant as an insult. you are clearly intolerant of people who disagree with your point of view or you wouldn't want to move away from them. say goodbye to california and both you and i will be better off.

To the OP - -

Please note that 3 cities in the top 25 are in Orange County CA.

9 Lafayette Louisiana
10 Orange California
11 Escondido California
12 Allentown Pennsylvania
13 Mesa Arizona
14 Arlington Texas

I am genuinely surprised that Mission Viejo didn't make that list.

I understand your point, but intolerance extends on both sides. There are just as many people of every political and cultural position that talk down to(or reject) people of other political and cultural positions. Bigots exist in every group, just like you are apparently intolerant of this persons position suggesting you will be better off with this "pissed off conservative" living out of state.
