Hey everyone, after much deliberating my wife and I have finally decided to move to San Diego in September. Does anyone have a referral for a rental real estate agent in the area that can show us around a few different places when we visit at the end of July? I've been scouring craigslist, hotpads and every local San Diego website I can find for months but I think I may need help from someone that knows what they're doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There really aren't any 'buyer agents' for the rental market. To rent a house or condo, you make your deal directly with the owner or their property manager.

Since you're already looking at ads on Craigslist, Hotpads etc, the only other place to look would be property manager websites. There are lots of local property management companies and they usually list their current inventory on their website. Here are two reputable property managers:
San Diego Property Management
SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA - SAN DIEGO Homes and Real Estate For Sale - ,

If you have questions about school districts, commuting distances, neighborhood 'personalities' etc, this board has lots of local San Diego lifestyle experts.

Thanks for the help! I'll check out those links. Finding an apartment sucks. If anyone knows of a pet-friendly (dog under 25 lbs.) place with 2 BR and a washer/dryer in-unit somewhere within 20-25 minutes of the coast from Ocean Beach to Carlsbad for $1800 or under per month please feel free to contact me!

Renting with a dog can be a challenge. Before you sign a long apartment lease, check their ratings:

Good morning. Hoping someone can help! Our jobs are relocating us to San Diego and we have to be pulling out of AZ on or before the 30th of this month! We have no residency in CA! We applied for an apartment and thought we had it but last minute they called and said our credit was a problem. We have a son whom we have to enroll in school. We already exhausted our vacation time from work to come and visit to find a place. We will both be closing out of our jobs here on the 26th. We just need a 2 br/2ba to accommodate our family. Money isn't a problem, its just our credit scores, I guess. Any assistants would be highly appreciated.

A big part of helping is to know where your job is and what your budget is. Then you'll get some helpful responses as there are a lot of very helpful people here.

And starting a separate thread helps, too.

Try Mr. Craig List. Also Mr. Pad Mapper, though I think he is identical twin to C.L., but may dress differently. These were recommended by Mr. Wise Arse.
