I am European who have been in both cities and I have to say San Diego is much, much better than Miami. And honestly, I found Miami kinda ugly and dirty especially compare to whole Southern California.

I am moving into San Diego in couple months, because of the whole atmosphere and vibe which you won´t find in Miami IMO.

+1 person into SD!!!!! I think SD is much more attractive, with, you know, IB, La Jolla, the mountains. Miami all has their skyline

Definately SD! We have a cooler but very stable climate with no HURRICANES! haha just kidding to all you Floridians The city is also very modern and clean with a great growth in the science industry.

Miami for better nightlife and warmer ocean water and near perfect winters.

San Diego for more overall variety, better and more diverse economy, much nicer summers, and Balboa Park (one of America's best large urban parks).

I'll say San Diego. Although CSI: Miami does a great job of making Miami pleasing to the eye.
Miami does has warmer waters, however during the summer, when the heat kicks in, Califorina cold waters are ideal and appropiate.

Miami is much funner... Anything goes.

SD however is better overall. Pleasant climate, nice views, and an actual job market. I don't mind the caliente heat of Miami though...

I was talking with a nice businesswoman from Texas who lives near Miami (we were both flying to Ft. Lauderdale) and I was telling her I wanted to move to Miami or maybe SD. She told me that if she was young and unmarried... she go to SD.

I dunno, I'm going to SoCal next month so I'll check out Diego.
