What is the job market like for experienced RN's? I have years of critical care experience and currently work in a cardiology office. Any advice on specific hospitals to look at? I am considering a move to Encinitas, Carlsbad or Del Mar in about a year.

I just did a quick search via signonsandiego.com (Union Tribune site) and it looks like there are plenty of nursing jobs in this area. SOSD/UT are now linked to monster.com for their career search services.

Nursing Jobs in San Diego, CA, US | signonsandiego.com

That was just page 1 of 8.

My former neighbor was a traveling nurse that was here for about a year in SD. She was telling me that they are in high demand just about everywhere. So I asked her why more wouldn't want to come here. She said there were of course many reasons but the biggest were salary and advancement or position. SO its not too dissimilar than other industries.

There are lots of positions for SKILLED nurses. However, in California you do have to compete with a LARGE Filipino (over here on Visas) population for those jobs. It has gotten so bad in some areas, that they refuse to hire Filipinos: Nursing Matters
