Our State parks were just sitting ducks waiting to get picked off huh?

Well they are closing two of them here in the County indefinitely.

very sad development. many of the parks give us ways to enjoy every day, some are truly unique.

California....hmmmm.

They cannot "shut it down" as people live on it and it has a State road running through it. They can shut down some State ran facilities but the trees are still viewable and the trails walkable. I'll actually like fewer people up there.

As long as those stupid guards don't sit at that booth at Lake Poway (which I know isn't a state park) I'll be happy.

They tried to charge me $5 (approx) for the privilege of parking there.

This is sad. I went camping at Palomar just a few months ago.

I think you will still be able to, just not in one of the established camp grounds.

Yeah, I am sure it will be. I remember the LA Times doing a pience on this when the Governator was looking to shut down the parks.

I am fairly certain, its technically illegal to camp on state property when its 'closed' but again, the likelihood of a tropper ticketing is unlikely.

The real challenges will be for how long they will be closed. Trash and trail maintenance will be gone. Vagrants are probably there anyway, but I am sure that will only increase over time and the amount of crap that will be piling up all over the park will just sit there.
Also think about any dry brush that can potentially catch fire. I am not sure how that will be maintained. I am sure some lawsuits will arise from that should a fire originate from there and start torching areas nearby.

So while it may seem not that big of a deal on the surface, its just a matter of time before something unforseen happens that will may raise eyebrows. Hopefully it will not cost taxpayers more in the future should potential lawsuits arise.

They don't ticket the thousands of illegals out in the bush I doubt they'll have enough Rangers to weed out some people in the bush
