Coming to San Diego again this summer, what sould we see besides, Sea World, Legoland and the San Diego Zoo, been there done that. I want to see the area without doing the "amusement parks" I know there is so much more to see. Any suggestions?

Mountains (Cuyamaca and Laguna, for example). Desert (Anza Borrego State Park and the area around that, for example).

California is so beautiful, I don't plan on wasting time on the big "attractions" this year, all the times we have been there we have NEVER been to the beach, we've tried a few times but could never find any open parking, from Coronado to La Jolla up to Carlsbad, we must be cruising along the ocean at the wrong times. We like to see the sea lions in the La Jolla area, and watch the surfers.
Where would you go on a one day trip, last summer we made a quick trip up to Hollywood, I didn't think I would really get into the whole nerdy, looking for sidewalk stars, but I have to admit, I fell right into it. It was really cool, we tried to find the way up to the Hollywood sign before it got dark, but couldn't find it. We did get to see The playboy mansion and a few other beautiful homes.

There's a lot more to Balboa Park than just the Zoo. I'd say check the park out for sure.

You also may want to hop on a bike and take a ride down around the harbor. You could also check out Coronado and the Del.
