Dh and I are looking at homes in this area and would just like to know more about the neighborhoods, people in the area, schools, etc. We live in Otay Ranch in an apartment complex so we would just like to get a better overview from a homeowner's perspective, especially the newer builds. Any info on the builders (McMillin, KB, Brookfield, etc) would be helpful too! Thanks so much

No need to build a home there as there are hundreds for sale. That area was hard hit from 06 to present. Very nice areas.

I was thinking more of the homes already built, which are put up by many of the same builders that are still building right now like McMillin and KB or Brookfield. We don't plan on building new. I've been looking at Redfin though and excluding short sales, the inventory isn't as big as I expected.. banks must be holding onto some of the properties still and being stingy. We still have a few months, so I'm looking while hubby is away.

It's a very nice area but a long way from downtown, etc.

It doesn't seem too far from downtown, but I usually don't have a reason to be downtown anyways. And then again, I used to live in Chicago and the commute into downtown was hell. So this is cake compared to that
