One hell of an assumption, right? Especially when someone's got a last name that just screams at the top of its lungs "JEWISH!"

Yup, that's what one of my friends with the last name Goldstein was treated to.
In the south, my husband was asked in a job interview where he worshipped.

Yeah, they're really big on the evangelical, fire and brimstone brand or Christianity down there. They really jam it down your throat. I grew up Presbyterian, which makes me a Godless heathen in comparison.

That's illegal. I can't believe that company hasn't been sued at some point for doing that.

Me too. I don't know what it is with our denomination but we just aren't taught to ram our religion down people's throats.

The "company" was a local school district. LOL! Actually to be fair, it was a person from a community panel put together for the interview. The HR rep present turned white as a sheet according to my husband. He got the job, later left the district to move closer to the University he was getting a PH.D. but the memory is priceless and a good story for "don't" when hiring.

And sadly, I think it happens in all the beach cities of southern california. I had a date with a 39 yr old and found 3 skateboards in his room.

Skateboards are a SoCal thing, not a kids thing.

Yes. There's a different culture up there, and it depends on which part of NorCal.

^probably not. Saw it in Portland this summer. I think I got slammed on here once talking about grown men riding skateboards. Hey to each their own, but I admit I would not be thrilled to date a 39 year old man with 3 skateboards. LOL
