I have officially received my transfer paperwork to San Diego. I will be leaving in late January from Georgia. I have known this move was pending so I have made some plans/arrangements already. I was wondering if anyone knew of any long stay motels in the San Diego area that are decent. I will be working about 15 minutes from the Eastlake/Otay Ranch area. Thank you in advance for any responses.

Somewhere on this board some people posted about long term stay places pro and con and I remember some were in the Eastlake Area. Don't recall what thread they were under and I don't have any experience with staying in long term hotels/motels so I'm no help.

I live in Otay Ranch - when family comes to stay they often stay at the Holiday INN Express , the "Otay Mesa" location. It's not near anything else really but it is easy to and fro via the 125. There is another hotel next to it (can't think of the name)

We're getting a couple hotels out here soon... I think that the one next to the Otay Town Center is going to be a Marriott and maybe a Hyatt on the other end , next to the movie theater

Yes, the Otay Ranch/Eastlake area (where I live) really has no good options for a long-term stay. I know there are Extended Stays and the sort in Hotel Circle in Mission Valley. It's about a 15-20minute drive but you'd be going against traffic and not so bad if it's only for a little bit.

Good luck!

Thank you for all of the responses. Has anyone heard of the "Hitching Post" long stay motels? This is their website:Hitching Post Apartment Motels - Extended Stay Residences in San Diego County

Are they any good? They are cheap and I will need to stay around 30 days so I would the pricing is right for me.

Never heard of them. Before you make a reservation, check the Bedbug Registry - www.bedbugregistry.com. When I have to stay overnight in San Diego, I stay at Harvey's Motel, it's clean, quiet, cheap, and has no bedbugs. www.harveysmotel.com. The rates are lower than the Hitching Post, and there are small refrigerators and microwaves in each room.

If you decide that a regular hotel is the only viable option, negotiate your own room rate. They may be surprisingly amenable to giving you a substantial discount off the rack rate.

Thank you for the advice. My plan is try to get into The Hitching Post as they offer the cheapest extended stay option. I also found a Days Inn that seemed pretty reasonable.
