'Revenge porn' site owner Kevin Bollaert who allowed revealing pictures of naked women from all walks of life to be posted on his site was today sentenced to 18 years in jail. Kevin Bollaert, Revenge-Porn Site Operator, Sentenced To 18 Years

This scumbag is going to have plenty of time to reflect on his distasteful behaviour although he could be eligible for parole after serving 10 years. Let's hope he ends up somewhere like Folsom.

But this is the first case of its kind and the sentence handed down today should act as a deterrent to others contemplating a life of crime in a similar vein.

18 years is more than most sexual predators get. Should be a minimum of 20 for them.

Were you one of the victims?
If you were I am happy justice was served for you
It seems to me that, the sentencing phase in our court system, in this country is really Screwed up!
Two years ago my best friends son was killed by a drunk driver and the A$$hole only got 11 years.
This Scumbag, Got 18 years for extorting the victims. No one was killed and the only thing hurt were the victims Pride(Don't take nude Photos/videos of yourself and then send them to your boyfriend/Girlfriend)
As much as a scumbag this guy was, I don't think he deserved 18 years. The Scumbag that hit my best friends son, then left the scene should of receive a lot more than 11 years.

He didn't get sentenced just for posting pictures of naked women, he was convicted of 21 counts of identify theft and extortion in addition to being a worthless POS who proudly bragged about it to the press and anyone who would listen. He probably won't serve that much time though.

Cyber exploitation. It's a new thing and everyone better understand that.

Also, he was already on probation.

From UT:

Bollaert is already on probation stemming from an unrelated federal case. He was sentenced last year after he admitted putting a Pacific Beach post office box number rather than a home address on applications while acquiring 31 firearms from various gun dealers in San Diego.

No, I wasn't one of the victims. In fact I live on the other side of the Pond in the Netherlands.

I'm glad though that this scumbag didn't operate from this country because the Dutch are soft on crime. An example of that was a driver doing 75mph in a 50mph zone who lost control of the vehicle, mounted the sidewalk and killed a two year old girl and both her grandparents. The sentence of the court was 120 hours community service. The father of the little girl was so disgusted by the sentence, he threw a chair at the judge. There's a video of it here: Father throws chair at Dutch judge after 'absurdly low' sentence for driver who killed his daughter | Metro News
